The truth is, many network marketing programs today are legitimate and productive.  Many people have found a great source of income from MLM programs.  Let’s explore the advantages of network marketing more closely:

Internet marketing has made MLM more convenient. In the past, many people find network marketing a difficult job especially when it comes to finding leads and meeting with prospects.  With the help of the internet, network marketing has become so much easier.

Finding leads and communicating with prospects can all be done online. An internet marketer can now work from home and reach out to more people.  The fear of getting rejected by a prospect is also avoided.  Online marketing gives you the option to present your business only to those who are really interested to join.

Allows flexibility in managing your own working hours. One of the major reasons why people leave their day jobs for a network marketing business is to enjoy flexibility and control.  Being a network marketer gives you the option to choose your own working schedule, thus allowing you to set aside time for yourself and your family.

MLM programs are low cost.  Today, MLM programs are not as expensive as they used to be some years ago.  In the past, meeting with prospects will cost you some money.  Now, you can communicate with your prospects for free.  The internet provides different ways of communication such as forums, e-mails, chat and VOIP services.  A network marketer does not have to spend much just to convince a prospect to join.

What’s great about an MLM business is that anyone has the chance to be a successful.  You don’t have to be a graduate of a high-degree course to be competent.  There is no age limit on joining the program.  Anyone, regardless of his/her background can join the business and be profitable.  Success is based on the person’s hard work and performance.

These are just some the advantages of network home business marketing.  Bear in mind that the key is finding a marketing program that is reliable and genuine.  Always remember that a legitimate program isn’t just dependent on recruiting down lines to profit.  The program must always involve selling of quality products.

Don’t be fooled by spam mails. Scammers often resort to spamming to victimize unsuspecting consumers. You may receive hundreds of mails in your inbox from unknown senders inviting to you to join their company.  Bear in mind that legitimate companies do not advertise in this manner.

Look out for the ‘Get Rich’ scheme. The promise that you can get rich quickly or that you can earn thousands of dollars weekly or monthly never fails to attract people. But don’t be fooled!  If this is how a company advertises the business, chances are you dealing with a scammer.

Be cautious about data entry work at home jobs. There are thousands of paid surveys and data entry jobs advertised in the internet. You may even be asked to pay a membership fee to get started. Beware! Before signing up for a data entry job, be sure that you have done extensive research about the company’s background and reputation.

Consider starting your own home business. If you are really serious about having a business or working from home, why not start out on your own? If you have a hobby, you may consider creating your own crafts or offering your services from the internet.

Check out forums or community business groups. To find potential home based business opportunities, you can also participate in forums or business groups online. You can learn a lot from other entrepreneurs based on their firsthand experiences. However, do not base your decision on information that you hear or read alone. After gathering ideas, be prepared to do your own investigation.

Inquire from the Better Business Bureau. The BBB monitors all businesses in the US so if there were complaints or legal cases filed against a company, you should be able find out about it.

Be prepared to work. Avoid home base business opportunities that promise you to earn big money without doing much work at all. Any type of business- whether online or offline involves hard work.If a particular company offers you the chance to be rich without hardly doing anything, then you should know that you are dealing with a scammer.

Know the Ins and Outs of the Business

Before signing up for network marketing home business, see to it that the products you will be selling are high quality and affordable. Can your target market afford the prices?  Trying out the products yourself is the best way to judge if it is a feasible business or not. If you are not personally convinced about the benefits of the products, then how will you be able to sell it effectively?

Obviously, you want to spend time doing research about the ins and outs of the business before anything else. If you are decided to join, do the necessary planning and preparation. You want to make sure that you will be emotionally and financially ready to take on the challenges of managing a network marketing home business.

The Importance of Team Work

The success of a network marketing business largely depends on the cooperation of the team members or downlines. If you are the leader of a network, provide constant encouragement and support to your down lines. You want each of your down line to contribute sales on a regular basis.

At first, new recruits may be aggressive about promoting the business. But in time, some may lose interest or may not be as active as they used to. How can you inspire your team to stay active? One way is to build strong relationships with them.

Be sure that your down lines can get in touch with you easily at any time. If you have a team member who is not bringing in sales, you may want to ask how you can help. Perhaps this particular person may need to improve his/her marketing skills. If that’s the case, training programs can be held to improve your team’s performance.

Don’t fall for the Get-Rich Scheme. If you are promised that you will be a millionaire in just a short time, you are obviously dealing with a scam.  All kinds of business, no matter how lucrative it is are faced with risks.  Getting rich instantly is not a promise you can count on.

You don’t have to do any selling. What kinds of products does the company offer?  If you don’t have any product to sell, how do you expect to make money?  Surprisingly, many people have made huge investments on MLM schemes that do not have real products to sell.

You are forced into signing up right away. Are you encouraged to sign up the deal before the “once in a lifetime opportunity” gets away?  A legitimate MLM program should be strong enough to last for a long time.  Never say yes immediately no matter how tempting the offer seems to be.

The MLM structure is not explained clearly. You should clearly understand how the system works.  How will you be able to earn commissions?  What kind of products does the company promote? Do you need to continuously recruit new members to earn money?  How are commissions calculated?  Who are the founders of this MLM business?  These are all important questions that you should seek answers to.

Watch out for MLM programs that require membership fees or investment. Are you asked to submit a significant amount of money to be part of the team?  Watch out for networking scams that involve huge investments.

Be careful about “unbelievable” claims. Some Multi-Level Marketing products make “impossible” claims.  Now that most people prefer to use alternative medicines, some herbal or so-called “natural” medicines may claim to be the ultimate solution to health problems.  Advertising propagandas can make anything seem believable.  Before joining in, see to it that the products have been tested and approved be the appropriate government organizations.

To avoid getting scammed, avoid Multi Level Marketing businesses that…

promise outrageous income benefits. Scammers often make big promises to attract people.  An MLM company may claim to help you earn huge profit in weeks without doing much work.  If an opportunity seems too good to be real, then most likely it is.

depend solely on new recruits. If you are required to recruit new members in order earn money, then that is not a real business at all.  Avoid MLM businesses that depend entirely on membership fees or investment of new members.

offers unreasonably expensive products. Yes, selling real products is one of the signs of a legitimate home business.  However, if the products are way too expensive, you may find it very difficult to sell them.  Obviously, without sales, you will not earn a cent.

do not provide team support. It is crucial to choose a networking company that offers reliable support for its members.  Be sure that you will not be left on your own after signing up for the business.

promise easy money. Fake MLM businesses will promise you BIG cash without doing any work at all.  Don’t be fooled by this trick!  A real business always involves a lot of hard work, no matter what type of business it is.

urge you to invest your money NOW OR NEVER. If you are encouraged to invest a significant amount of money in the business with the promise that you can easily double or even triple the amount you invested, chances are you are dealing with scammers.  A legitimate MLM business is one that has been around for a considerable time and remains stable because it is an honest business.

Many of these opportunities are MLM (network marketing) I have very limited experience with these programs and I advise them to use their best judgment when choosing a MLM. I have always felt that you need to be a really personable person to make MLM work for you. You need to be able to motive not just yourself, but a whole team of people that will be working under you. That to me seems to be the #1 reason people I know who have gotten into a MLM program either drop out or simply don’t make any money. Its hard enough to keep YOURSELF on track let alone a large group of people.

I have seen it done though. I had a friend named Renee who was in MLM all her life (she was in her late 50′s when we met). Renee had built huge downlines in her time, and had experienced the benefits of working with not just a great group of people but the financial benefits of having nearly 300 people working with her. Renee was incredibly organized, very personable, and w/ more than 30 years of being in different programs incredibly knowledgeable about understanding network marketing structures and payouts. Her main problem seemed to be that she would join programs that just didn’t last. After a year or 2 they would close abruptly.

I would ask her why not start off with companies that have a proven track record and the answer she gave me was that the income potential was 10x better getting in on a new program first, then joining an older program and being way down the list.

THAT’S why I never got involved with MLM. No matter how many times they tell you that you make money selling wonderful products, the bottom line always seems to be getting people signed up under you.

I did some research online for my neighbors and here are some tips I saw touted over and over on MLM sites.

1. Avoid plans that seem to pay mostly for bringing new people into the fold. It could be an illegal pyramid scheme.
2. Avoid programs that say you will make lots of money thru the expansion of your downline more so then having your current downline out selling product .. again this can be a sign of a pyramid scheme.
3. avoid “Miracle” products. If there claims are just outrageous, do you want to be the one to sell someone sick with high blood pressure or some terrible health condition snake oil?
4. Avoid programs that make you buy expensive inventory – while its a nice motivator that every 30 days you will have a new shipment of stuff to sell so you better not delay or your will find your garage full of product. It can get so expensive that people who haven’t quite hit their stride drop out just to get out of the auto ship.
5. Try not to sign up the first night you hear about the program. Don’t buy into the HYPE! A good rule of thumb is to not take your credit card to these meetings. After the meeting, hit the internet and do your research.

   You will find good and bad reviews. You will have other distributors flashing huge checks and encouraging you, you will find disillusioned people who tried the program (or maybe brought and tried to return after the 30 day guarantee and are bitter over losing some money) that will scream scam. Its up to you to shift through it all and make a decision.

6. Check with your local business organizations like the BBB and Chamber of Commerce. Some MLM’s are too small to show up in their records but its better to be safe and check things out thoroughly before committing your hard earned cash.
7. If you are promised outrageous amounts of money in a short time remember the old saying, “Its simply too good to be true”.

If you have done your homework, don’t be afraid to move forward. If you put down the money to join the program, make sure you have a plan of action so that you can start building your business right away.
