Let me share my own experience regarding this topic.. My mom, (single mom) raised me and my 2 other siblings alone. Before she had children, she was just fond of making portraits of friends and relatives. She almost forgot of this hobby for she took a business course instead of courses related to drawing. Until she had to give up her job in the office because my sister got sick. A friend gave her the idea of starting a small home based business wherein she could sell some of her drawings. Some people contracted her to do their portrait as well. And though its not a huge business, it helps us a lot with the expenses and she could personally take care of us.
