Have you thought about moving your home business to a real office space? Renting an office space may not be necessary during the early stages of a business but as customer orders become bigger and more workers are needed to accommodate those orders, renting an office space is next best move.

Some entrepreneurs may be hesitant about the idea of leasing or renting an office space because of the cost. However, you need to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of having an actual office before refusing the idea right away.

Is it really the right time for you to move to an office space? Below are points to ponder to help you come up with a decision.

Overcrowded Office. If you’re presently using a portion of your home as an office, hiring employees can be a problem. Be realistic. Is your home space really sufficient for you and your staff to work in conveniently?

No place to sit in the break room. A break room is a must for all office settings. This is the space where employees can relax and recharge for at least a few minutes. This is where employees can eat their lunch or simply sit down and enjoy their break. If you don’t have enough room fro everyone, your workers may be forced to eat their lunches outside and this could mean more time spent away from work.

Not enough parking space. What about parking space? If your staff own cars, do they have their own parking space as well? Can customers come by your office without worrying about where to park their cars?

Is there enough room for equipment? A growing business eventually will need to acquire more equipment to handle the operations. Is there enough room in your current office for more devices or equipment?

Do you have to use the conference room as an office? The conference room should function as a place for you and your staff to brainstorm or present reports. However, if you’ve been using the conference room as an extension of your office, then it’s really about time to consider moving

No place to stack paper work. Do you have filing cabinets to keep all your important documents, receipts and paperwork? Is there enough space in the room for your filing cabinets? Do you have to put your storage boxes outside your office because there really isn’t enough room inside? Organizing your office space can be tough if there’s barely enough room to move. If this true in your situation, it may be the right time to move.
