Don’t be fooled by spam mails. Scammers often resort to spamming to victimize unsuspecting consumers. You may receive hundreds of mails in your inbox from unknown senders inviting to you to join their company.  Bear in mind that legitimate companies do not advertise in this manner.

Look out for the ‘Get Rich’ scheme. The promise that you can get rich quickly or that you can earn thousands of dollars weekly or monthly never fails to attract people. But don’t be fooled!  If this is how a company advertises the business, chances are you dealing with a scammer.

Be cautious about data entry work at home jobs. There are thousands of paid surveys and data entry jobs advertised in the internet. You may even be asked to pay a membership fee to get started. Beware! Before signing up for a data entry job, be sure that you have done extensive research about the company’s background and reputation.

Consider starting your own home business. If you are really serious about having a business or working from home, why not start out on your own? If you have a hobby, you may consider creating your own crafts or offering your services from the internet.

Check out forums or community business groups. To find potential home based business opportunities, you can also participate in forums or business groups online. You can learn a lot from other entrepreneurs based on their firsthand experiences. However, do not base your decision on information that you hear or read alone. After gathering ideas, be prepared to do your own investigation.

Inquire from the Better Business Bureau. The BBB monitors all businesses in the US so if there were complaints or legal cases filed against a company, you should be able find out about it.

Be prepared to work. Avoid home base business opportunities that promise you to earn big money without doing much work at all. Any type of business- whether online or offline involves hard work.If a particular company offers you the chance to be rich without hardly doing anything, then you should know that you are dealing with a scammer.

Incomplete contact information. Observe how other companies offering work-at-home opportunities do not give out their complete contact information. If a company only provides an email address or a mobile number as means of communication, there is a huge possibility that you’re dealing with a home based business scam. Remember, a legitimate company is required to have a physical address and a business telephone number when securing a license to operate.

Payment is required to get hired. Many fly by night companies offering home business jobs require an upfront payment. You may be encouraged to sign up on the same day and submit your payment immediately. As soon as you hand them your money, these scammers will surely disappear. On the other hand, if you do your research, you can find many legitimate companies offering home based jobs that do not ask for any type of “initial payment” at all. If money is involved for you to get started, chances are you’re dealing with scammers.

No products or services to sell. Are you promised to earn big money without selling anything or barely doing any work? A lot of home based scams lure people by promising big cash. Watch out for Multi-Level Marketing schemes where your profit depends on the number of recruits or downlines you get.

Big, big profits in just a few weeks. Again, you’ll want to stay away from work-at-home jobs that promise to make you a millionaire in just a few weeks. Obviously, this is purely propaganda. No matter how well-planned a business is, there’s really no guarantee if you can make it unless you work hard for it.

It’s now or never. Venturing in a home business or a work-at-home job is a serious decision and one that should not be taken carelessly. If the company is really serious in providing legitimate home based jobs, the opportunity should always be there. You should never be forced to sign up with the threat that the opportunity won’t be there for you tomorrow.
